This is a simple waterproof mezuzah case. It is made from one piece of plastic with a plastic plug on the bottom. It has a simple gold shin for decoration. Even though these cases are good for outdoor use and can withstand adverse weather conditions, I still recommend choosing the optional heat sealing of the klaf. In my experience it is the combination of starting with a waterproof case, and combining that with heat sealing the klaf that provides the best chance of protecting the klaf over the long term. One problem that this case has is that it tends to turn yellow and become brittle when exposed to the sun for long periods of time after a number of years.

Clear mezuzah cases have a nice clean look and allow you to see the mezuzah klaf which is an advantage in halachah in many cases. Clear cases are not appropriate for outside use because they are not waterproof because they are a two piece case and water can seep in through the back. They are also not sun proof because they get very hot when exposed to the sun.
White plastic mezuzah cases are simple respectable looking and inexpensive. As with all two piece cases that have a back that pops off, they are not are not waterproof so they shouldn’t be used outside. If you chose the option Heat Seal Mezuzah Klaf In Plastic Tubing, the mezuzah will be somewhat waterproof, but I still don’t recommend using it outdoors unless it is going to be used in a relatively protected area.
